MORE than 100 couples planning their big day are set to converge on the Marriott Resort for their annual wedding expo.
Sunday’s Weddings and Events Showcase will see 25 different vendors offering everything from photographers to wedding attire to cakes.
The Marriott’s resident Wedding Specialist Sara Fraser said the hotel would also have its function rooms open to couples who might want to hold their wedding there.
“The majority of the guests are couples that are already engaged and are looking for somewhere to hold their wedding,” she said.
“We also have complimentary catering throughout the day, because we know the food is very important to people.

“We’ve got photographers, videographers, bridal couture, invitations and stationery, entertainment, theme and decorations, just to name a few.”
This year Ms Fraser hopes to see Surfers Paradise Marriott host 22 weddings.
She said many couples are now looking to be individual on their special day.

“Brides and grooms look online for inspiration and they really, really do their research because they want their wedding to be unique,” she said.
“They want their initials on things, they want to customise their menu, their styling, they basically want to say to the guests, ‘this is who we are as a couple’.”
