Schapelle Corby says Lindsay Lohan could play her in a movie

A Hollywood star who “looks a lot like me” would be Schapelle Corby’s pick to play her in a movie about her life, the former Bali prisoner has revealed.

Lindsay Lohan would be Schapelle Corby’s top pick to play her if a movie were to be made about her life.

“My sister (Mercedes) always says Lindsay Lohan looks a lot like me, I think that would be the only person,” Corby told Confidential, adding that a movie would end with “just trying to live my life”.

Corby has been back in the headlines this past week after making her reality television debut on controversial new series SAS Australia.

Is this reality TV moment normalising domestic violence?

She departed the show, where notable Australians are put through their paces attempting to pass the gruelling Special Forces selection course, in tonight’s second episode.

Corby of course spent a decade in Bali’s Kerobokan prison before being released on two years parole following her 2005 arrest for the importation of 4.2kg of cannabis into the Indonesian island.

Krew Boylan played Corby on in the 214 TV drama Schapelle.

On SAS Australia, Corby detailed the mental illness that led her to spend four years in a “terrifying psychosis” that led to her hallucinating that she had eaten her father.

“I was very sick,” she told Confidential. “When I was mentally ill, I used to climb up on to the roof of the prison and just stand there, not to do anything, not to look at cars because I hadn’t seen cars for years, I just had to be up high. I have been severely mentally ill, to the point where I couldn’t even recognise my mum. I never want to go back to that lower dimension of pain. I never want to get back there so I am actively trying to do the best I can to control my thoughts, my actions, mostly every aspect of my life I am trying to improve daily.”

It took putting herself through the gruelling SAS course for Corby to realise she can live a normal life again. Her mental health is something she keeps in check daily.

“Each night before I sleep I do a meditation for myself, just to relive the day slightly and look at how I reacted or dealt with situations,” she explained. “I try to improve myself daily but I need to acknowledge before I sleep how I went each day.”

She continued: “It seems unrealistic or far fetched that I could have learnt to live my life in a better way because of the show but I actually have learned to get out of my shell, my room, get out of my house, I’ve learnt to make plans, I have already started reconnecting with my friends. I took the initiative to plan the viewing party.”

Corby’s hope from taking part in the show was to “learn how to live my life in a more productive way”.

“I have learned how to make choices. I have learned how to follow the choice through and make plans. I have learnt how to navigate a little better, that is only so far and it has only been a month or so since filming finished. I already feel more courageous. I am moving towards what I want my life to look like.”
