She played a mute who learnt to talk on Home And Away but actor Isabel Lucas was in full voice yesterday as she attended an anti 5G protest in where else but Byron Bay.

Lucas, a renowned anti-vaxxer, was the guest speaker at the peaceful protest which started at JING Organics market in the townships industrial estate.

5G refers to the fifth generation of wireless communications technology, and conspiracy theorists believe, among other things, it was developed by governments as a weapon.

Lucas has said that the rollout of 5G across the country is the most important issue of the time. “I feel more strongly about than any issue I’ve felt called to campaign on before,” she wrote on social media.

Her comment says a lot considering her she‘s also used her platform to protest vaccination and peddle COVID-19 conspiracy theories. Last month she “opted out” of getting a COVID-19 test while filming Bosch & Rockit in Byron Bay, saying, “My immune system has just become so solid from my way of life, how I live and eat and think.”

In August, the actor found herself at the centre of a coronavirus controversy, taking part in a zoom call with other with COVID-19 conspiracy theorists including celebrity chef Pete Evans. Covering her face with a black mask and hoodie and using the alias “X”, the 35-year-old said, “I’m here and I don’t want to be anonymous, but I am about to start filming a film and I do need to be careful about being outspoken because you can get dropped from charities, you can lose campaigns with car companies.”

Ironically organisations had promoted her appearance as part of the online event, so her alias was quickly discovered.

This came after she was dumped by children’s charity, Plan International Australia, after commenting she “didn’t trust the path of vaccination”.
