SOMETHING fishy was going on at The Spit yesterday as bikies invaded the set of the latest Hollywood blockbuster to shoot on the Gold Coast.
Filming for the $300 million DC superhero romp Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa as the King of the Seven Seas, moved to a custom-made set next to Palazzo Versace yesterday, with Momoa and his body double both spied on set, alongside actors playing ‘big bikies’.
While Momoa was filming at The Spit, co-star Temuera Morrison and newcomer Otis Dhanji were busy at work at Village Roadshow Studios, filming in the studio’s outdoor water tank.

While second unit filming continued at the water tank today, but none of the films principal cast were due on set.
YOUNG AQUAMAN IN SWIM ON GOLD COAST
The fishing village set at The Spit — which includes two-storey shipping containers dressed as the Amnesty Bay Fish Co-Op and a shop signed Sunken Galleon — is one of several being built on the Coast for Aquaman’s six-month shoot.
Fans have received their first look at the fish-scale artwork Momoa’s character sports in the film courtesy of trainer Mada Abdelhamid.
Crew say the ‘fake’ tattoos take more than three hours to apply and last for two days.
In a picture uploaded to Instagram, Abdelhamid and Momoa, still sporting his character’s tatts, are shown eating after a workout.
Momoa also showed off his character’s fish-scale markings in a video of himself climbing an indoor wall.

Set to the thumping sound of Audioslave’s track Cochise, the video was posted on the star’s Instagram page and shows Momoa’s arms and back covered in the intricate scale designs.
“All work and no climbing makes Jason a dull boy. Sending My new @soill fat butt campus wall. Aloha AC,” the Hawaiian star captioned the post.
