A POPULAR Broadbeach nightclub that closed in a cloud of mystery earlier this year has announced its rebirth under a new name and a new management team.

The old Platinum nightclub in the Niecon Plaza will launch as Amnesiia on Friday, October 25, bought out by a new yet-to-be named owner.

New general manager Rowan Clark touted it as an “evolution” of Platinum nightclub, saying Amnesiia will continue to host the heavy techno and electro styles while integrating new styles, and hosting house and RnB nights in the side rooms.

“This is effectively an evolution of the space. Platinum was amazing in its heyday, this will be taking the stuff that did work and letting go of what didn’t.

“We want to create an optical experience when people get through the door, the music style that did actually fit the room the way it was but people will find the space a lot warmest.

“We are leaning on the underground nightclub feel to the place,” he said.

The renovations of the space also include an extension on the booth set up.

“We have re-evaluated the booth set up, and will be going for a higher quality experience for people including VIP bottle service.”

The new management team say they have already received more than 400 applications for bar jobs and hope to finalise staff by the end of the week.

“We are also open to speaking to old staff members who want to return, we are operating now in our own way with our own brand style,” Mr Clark said.

The resident DJs will be announced two weeks out from the clubs launch and tickets for the opening weekend are expected to go on sale this week.

Dj Tiger Lilly and MaRLo have been announced as opening acts.

“We know people who would have liked to see Platinum re-open sooner but there is a lot of work we needed to put in first.”

Mr Clark was unable to say why the nightclub’s previous owners TCJ & Associates shut the doors suddenly in early July.

He said the new owner is also unwilling to be named at this time.

TCJ & Associates are still listed as the leassee on the latest liquor licence, which has been suspended.

Amnesiia management said their paperwork to transfer the licence had been submitted to the Office of Liquor and Gaming.

In July former staff told the Bulletin that a rift between managers may have been behind its end.
