A controversial reality TV star is putting on boxing gloves and stepping into the ring to take on one of his biggest rivals.

Married At First Sight contestant Mike Gunner will take on Billy Vincent in a charity boxing match for mental health organisation LIVIN later this month.

Both contestants – who regularly clashed while starring on the Nine Network reality TV show – agreed they wanted to fight each other.

MAFS MIKE GUNNER SLAMS RADIO HOST FOR ‘SENSELESS ATTACK’

Roman Coates, who is the director of promoters BOX Hyphen, said he organised the fight after seeing the former contestants call each other out online.

“I approached a few people and asked if they wanted to take part in the event,” he said.

“Billy Vincent said ‘yeah if there’s one person I’d like to fight and punch in the face it’s Mike’.”

Since accepting the offer Mr Gunner, 45, who surfs and plays soccer, has been ramping up his fitness regime.

He has been training “every day of the week” at Heartbreak Conditioning in Burleigh Heads to ensure he has the upper hand over Mr Vincent, who is almost 15 years younger and works as a personal trainer and model.

“I did hear he put a thing on his Instagram saying he wants to punch me in the face – but I take that as a compliment,” Mr Gunner said.

“He’s taking it far more personally than I am.

“I feel as though he may have some insecurities that he may be looking to overcome and perhaps fighting me is some way he can do it.

“He’s coming in with a lot of confidence but I really hope he’s training hard.”

Asked if he wants to win he said: “I have to win this”.

“I don’t want it to be viewed as a punch on,” he added.

“The focus is highlighting the charity. And also to show people you don’t need to eat meat to stay fit and healthy.

“You can be a middle-aged man and still beat a guy who is young enough to be your son and is a personal trainer.”

The pair’s feud is said to dates from the filming of Married At First Sight last year, with Mr Vincent being unhappy with the way Mr Gunner treated his mock-wife Heidi Latcham.

The fight will be held on August 24 from 12.30pm to 5pm. Tickets can be purchased from https://box-cargo.in-tix.com
