Gold Coast Show organisers say a decision on where the event would be held next year had been made — with plans to include more animal events like cattle judging.

BROADWATER Parklands will be the home of the Gold Coast Show for the next three years while organisers work to secure the event a permanent spot.

Gold Coast Show CEO Lavinia Rampino said the Southport location’s trial — providing one location for both animals and sideshow alley — produced high crowd numbers each day from Friday to yesterday.

“We’ve been taking in as much feedback and constructive criticism as we can.”

Ms Rampino said next year’s show was likely to have more events involving animals including cattle judging.

“We wanted to get the horses right first and add on from there,” she said.

“The feedback we got was the ground was really good for them in the showjumping.”

Moving to Broadwater Parklands was a temporary solution for the committee to save the show after their previous site at Parklands Village was taken over for the Commonwealth Games.

Ms Rampino said she hoped there would be a permanent area for the show once the contract at the Broadwater Parklands finished.

“The Gold Coast really needs its own showground, there are so many festivals and events here,” she said.
