The goats on display at the Broadwater Parklands are being treated to jelly beans and licorice cubes while being adored by animal-loving showgoers such as Macky Gleeson.

The eight-year-old went straight to the llamas and goats when he arrived at the show with his family yesterday afternoon.

The aspiring farmer from Nerang has been asking his mum for a pet goat for ages and the show was a chance to finally get up close and personal with them.

“I want a goat to stop my dog from barking at the fence and so I could play with it,” Macky said.

“I was thinking of becoming a farmer.”

COUNCIL ASKS FOR OWNER OF RUNAWAY GOAT

His requests for a pet goat have fallen on deaf ears for the obvious reason that his family home isn’t suitable for one.

The goat pavilion has been filled with a constant flow of patrons eager to pat the farm animals.

Chief steward Elain Rogers said the goats loved jelly beans and licorice cubes and were on their best behaviour to get them.
