Eurovision: Australia locked in as Eurovision participants for the next five years

AUSTRALIA has been confirmed a place in Eurovision for the next five years.
SBS and their production partner Blint TV confirmed they have secured a spot for Australia until 2023.
It is yet to be confirmed if SBS will be showing another live competition called Eurovision-Australia Decides, after it was held on the Gold Coast for the first time on the weekend.

The two shows — judges jury and public decision — held on the Gold Coast at the Convention Centre on Friday and Saturday night attracted thousands.
Although not locked in, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate is pushing to have the live show hosted on the Coast again next year.
“Council is negotiating with SBS and Eurovision for a 2020 announcement expected later this year,” he said.
The Eurovision Song Contest final pulls in about 200 million viewers worldwide each year.

Brisbane-born artist Kate Miller-Heidke took out both the public and industry professional vote on Saturday, with her operatic pop banger Zero Gravity.
She will now represent Australia in Israel in May.
2019 was the fifth year Australia has competed in Eurovision.
