Princess Mary releases Christmas message amid husband’s alleged affair rumours

The Danish princess has released a heartfelt Christmas message amid rumours her husband Prince Frederik had an alleged affair.

Denmark’s Australian-born Princess Mary has shared a Christmas message about loneliness after her husband Prince Frederik was accused of having an affair.

In a letter posted on the Mary Foundation website, the future Danish queen reflected on the past year, saying “time is a peculiar quantity”.

“We need each other if we want to succeed,” she wrote.

“And this does not only apply to working life and to those of us who work to combat social isolation. It applies to all of us. People need people.”

The Christmas message was accompanied by a solo picture of Princess Mary in the snow.

The Crown Princess went on to highlight her foundation’s work in 2023, including the launch of Lift, a program that ensures young people who feel lonely are seen and get the right help, as well as the launch of the Sammen Uden Vold initiative, which aims to detect violence in families with young children.

The post was accompanied with a solo photo of the 51-year-old who was seen smiling from a snowy street all rugged up in a coat and shawl.

In late October, the Danish monarchy was rocked by reports Prince Frederik was pictured on a night out with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova and without his Australian-born wife.

In the photos, which were published by Spanish magazine Lecturas, the two were seen enjoying a day and evening together. They were photographed during a walk through a Madrid park, before getting into a change of clothes and heading out again for dinner after which they returned to Ms Casanova’s apartment.

Prince Fredrik was also photographed leaving Ms Casanova’s apartment the following day.

The Mexican socialite has vehemently denied the affair allegation between herself and the heir to the Danish throne.

In a legal letter posted on Instagram, she slammed the “malicious” rumours suggesting the pair were romantically involved.

It comes as Princess Mary returned to Australia for an early Christmas with her 12-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine before Prince Frederik and Princess Isabella, 16, joined them.

The Danish royal family are expected to return to Denmark to celebrate Christmas Eve with their eldest son and Queen Margrethe.
