Life about to change for Prince George as he turns 12

It was Prince George’s 12th birthday, but an adorable behind the scenes video shows Louis stole the show – and it took both his siblings to keep the giggling little prince in line. Watch the video.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have released a hilarious behind the scenes video showing the hijinks the young royals got up to as they took photos to mark Prince George’s 12th birthday.

While George poses sweetly, things change once his siblings are invited to enter the frame.

In one scene, a giggling Princess Charlotte grabs her little brother by the legs while George hoists him up under his armpits.

The merry trio continue to giggle as they walk along hand-in-hand with Louis firmly grasped either side by George and Charlotte to ensure he stayed in line.

The charming video was released shortly after George’s official portrait was published on social media.

The Royal Family’s official X account reposted the image with a caption saying: “Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince George!”

The picture, taken in rural Norfolk this year by photographer Josh Shinner, shows a smiling George leaning on a gatepost. The relaxed image of Prince William and Catherine’s oldest child is less formal than the black and white portrait released to mark his last birthday.

Second in line to the throne, George’s life will change at turning 12. The prince will no longer be allowed to fly in the same aircraft as his father, as they are both future kings, and his role in public events is expected to grow.

The prince made his first significant step towards his role as a future monarch this year, attending a morning tea marking the anniversary of VE Day inside Buckingham Palace. He spoke with members of the public for the first time, interacting with them as the more senior members of the family do.

George will go for secondary school next year and there has been speculation whether he will follow in his father’s footsteps and go to Eton College, a private school where entry usually begins at the age of 13.
