The event will feature two stages — a main stage and a smaller stage curated by Rabbit Radio with acts including punk favourites Clowns and VOIID.

More acts will be announced in the lead-up to the event, which heads to Broadwater Parklands after outgrowing its original home at the Miami Shark Bar.

Shakafest’s new home will allow organisers to bring back the famed Shakafest half-pipe, with an impressive line-up of skateboarding talent to be announced in coming weeks.

The 18+ festival will bump into the Southport site just weeks after it hosts the Gold Coast 600 Supercars race weekend’s Broadwater Sounds concert with international rock acts Foreigner and Live and chart-topping Brisbane favourites Sheppard on Saturday, October 20.

Area councillor Dawn Crichlow said the Gold Coast light rail had made the site in the southern section of Broadwater Parklands a popular choice of venue for a growing number of promoters.

“With the circus shows and big tops and those sorts of things and the concerts we’ve had there the industry is starting to talk about it among themselves and people hear about it and are interested to come,” she said.

Tickets for Shakafest go on sale on Friday at 1pm via Oztix and the event website.
