FOREIGNER will enter the world of Supercars when they join stadium rockers Live and homegrown hitmakers Sheppard for a Saturday night supershow at this year’s 28th Supercars Gold Coast 600.

The trio of acts, who have all earned fans of all ages with their enduring pop gems and reputations for A-grade live shows, will headline the 600 Sounds concert at Broadwater Parklands, in Southport, on October 20.

The show tops the program of sport and entertainment, parties and performances on race weekend from October 19-21.

The star acts were announced tonight at the official launch of the 2018 Supercars Gold Coast 600 at Nineteen at The Star.

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said the concert would be one of the highlight’s of what was shaping up as one of the biggest weeks in GC600 history.

“The Vodafone Gold Coast 600 is an iconic sporting event,” he said.

“It provides incredible entertainment and shows the Gold Coast to the world.

“The variety of entertainment on offer is unrivalled and offers plenty for the motorsport fan, the music fan or those who simply want to come along and join the party.

“It is set to be a great weekend all-round.”

Supercars debutants, English-American rock tunesmiths Foreigner, will treat fans to signature hits including I Want to Know What Love Is, Cold as Ice, Waiting for a Girl Like You, It Feels Like the First Time and Juke Box Hero at what will be their only Queensland show.

US rockers Live — the band behind hits such as Lightening Crashes, I Alone and All Over You and Throwing Copper — has been touring the world to rave reviews since its original line-up reunited last year.

As reported in the Bulletin today, Brisbane indie-rock group Sheppard will join Foreigner and Live for the big gig. Entry is free with a Saturday race day ticket.

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the Gold Coast 600 was a must-see major event that generated more than 114,000 visitor nights and generated $46 million in economic activity.

“I encourage visitors to the Gold Coast to take advantage of the event’s location — known for its beaches, surf, theme parks, shopping, night-life and hinterland — and stay on the Coast to explore the diverse tourism experiences in the region,” she said.

Vodafone has returned as the major naming rights partner of this year’s event following the success of last year’s GC600 which was watched by more than 2.1 million people on Fox Sports and Ten.

The Vodafone GC600 will run from 19-21 October on the streets of Surfers Paradise, with the Broadwater Sounds concert with Foreigner, Live and Sheppard on October 20.
