STUART Morland, partner in a national fuel business, and wife Tracey have emerged as the record-breaking buyers of a vacant riverfront site at Sanctuary Cove.
The Morlands, already Cove residents, have paid $4.8 million for the 1548sq m Bayside Close block, in the process obliterating the highest square metre rate for housing land at the resort.
Stuart was a founder in 1984 of IOR, a bulk-fuel distributor with a chain of 24-hour diesel stops in regional and remote areas.
NEW NAME ON TITLE FOR NORTHERNMOST BEACHFRONT HOUSE
STEVE Holmes, a partner in Robina accountancy firm WMS, has emerged as the $7.3 million buyer of the Gold Coast’s northernmost beachfront house.
The Main Beach home, built by former AFL player Brendan Edwards in the 70s and on a 458sq m site, was put under contract in July, with reports motor industry identities Brett and Rebecca Frizelle had bought it.

GROWING AMBITIONS FOR CHINESE BILLIONAIRE
RIYU Li, the Chinese billionaire who’s bought Mariner’s Cove on the Southport Spit, apparently had wider ambitions in 2012 when his family bought a $3.888 million riverfront Surfers Paradise mansion.
It seems he wanted to add the adjoining 964sqm site, home to seven-title walkup Grand Vista, to his Cannes Ave holding – sold in August for $7.5 million — but owners held out.
The last sale in Grand Vista, at $500,000, was at the end of 2019 to Bundall lawyer John Punch.
