According to police, the 24-year-old had been locked in the boot of a car for several hours and driven towards the notorious Belanglo State Forest on Wednesday.

She managed to save herself when she broke a tail light and stuck her hand out as the car travelled down the Hume Highway at Pheasants Nest about 11.30am.

A truck driver spotted the hand dangling out of the white Holden Commodore’s tail light cavity and called triple-0.

When police searched the car, they found a bloodied Ms Phillips crammed in the boot and a large kitchen knife and cannabis.

According to police, Ms Phillips had been stabbed in the knee, left arm and shoulder.

Police allege Ms Phillips, who had only recently moved to the Campbelltown area from Queensland, was forced into the boot several hours earlier in Claymore in Sydney’s southwest.

It is understood the car she was allegedly kidnapped in was registered to her parents.

The driver, Latia Henderson, 18, and passenger, Kayley Lee Ketley, 24, were arrested at the scene but allegedly denied causing Ms Phillips’ injuries.

It’s understood police will allege Henderson acknowledged that she used a tea towel to wipe blood off the car before throwing it away at Menangle.

Police searched the Menangle area and found the bloodied tea towel on the roadside.

Henderson and Ketley were charged with a string of offences, including wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. They were refused bail at Picton Local Court on Thursday.
