Shocking footage has emerged of a machete-wielding man repeatedly striking a vehicle after two teenagers allegedly attempted to set his property on fire in a wild incident overnight.
The Daily Telegraph obtained footage of Manoa Sinamoni, 43, allegedly smashing a vehicle with a machete after he chased two teenagers down in a 10km car pursuit from his Lalor Park property to South Wentworthville.
It all started when emergency services were called to a driveway on Mackenzie St in Concord West just after 10.40pm, and found a Nissan X-trail on fire.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze but the vehicle was partially destroyed.
Just before midnight, police said there was an attempt to set a home on fire at Northcote Rd, Lalor Park.
In a second video obtained by this masthead, footage depicts two teenagers allegedly approaching Sinamoni’s property with a jerry can.
The 43-year-old homeowner allegedly saw two teenagers flee in a Toyota Prado and can be seen in the vision sprinting after the pair before a car pursuit ensued.
Police allege a fight erupted and the 43-year-old man, armed with a knife, was attacked with a machete and left with superficial injuries to his shoulder and leg.
It is understood that Sinamoni allegedly disarmed the machete from the teenager before he swung the weapon at their car several times.
An 18-year-old was also injured in the fight and suffered cuts to his face. He was taken to Westmead Hospital and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police arrested the 43-year-old man and 17-year-old boy and they were taken to Granville Police Station.
The man was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the teen was charged with attempt to damage property by fire/explosive with intent injure, and reckless wounding.
Both have been refused bail with the man to appear at Parramatta Local Court and the teen to appear at a children’s court on Monday.
