Embattled former TV star Andrew O’Keefe is back before the courts after he was allegedly busted behind the wheel on a suspended licence.
O’Keefe, 52, was charged on June 20 after police allegedly caught him driving a vehicle in the exclusive suburb of Bellevue Hill despite his licence being suspended.
“Following a vehicle stop on Victoria Road, Bellevue Hill by officers from Eastern Suburbs Highway Patrol about 1.30pm on June 20, police issued a 52-year-old man a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of drive while suspended,” a police spokesperson said.
It comes just six months after he was found guilty of common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and contravening an apprehended violence order following a violent altercation with a woman in September 2021.
He was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order and three 18-month community corrections order for the domestic violence offences – however has lodged an appeal in the NSW District Court, which is set to be heard on July 31.
O’Keefe is set to face the Downing Centre Local Court for the driving offence on August 6.
Once one of the brightest stars on Australian television, he burst onto the scene as the host of Deal or No Deal before also becoming a regular co-host of Weekend Sunrise.
He was the host of afternoon quiz show The Chase at the time his contract with Channel 7 was ended.
O’Keefe’s battle with drugs has played out publicly in recent years, including several stints in rehabilitation.
