At least three hospitals across NSW have been targeted in a surreal bomb hoax, with hospitals in two other states and overseas caught up in it as well.

It’s understood that a hospital in Port Macquarie, Sydney and on The Central Coast were sent in bomb threats on Thursday.

This follows similar threats made in Victoria, Northern Territory and Queensland, with police investigating the threats sent to several public hospitals.

It’s understood that NSW Police are treating the threats sent to the three hospitals in the state as a hoax.

This mirrors similar reports of bomb threats, sent via email, to hospitals around the world.

The Hindustan Times reported that about 50 hospitals and government locations in New Dehli, India, received these threats earlier in the week.

The paper reported that the email stated that multiple bombs would go “off in a few hours” and that “none of you deserve to keep living”.

According to the paper, no bombs were found by police.

Over in Canada, it’s been reported by the Toronto Star that over 100 Jewish organisations —which included hospitals —received similar threats.

NSW Health has been contacted for comment.

More to come.
