One teenager has died and four others were seriously injured after a car they were travelling in collided with a tree at such force that pieces of the vehicle were found almost 80 metres away.

Eighteen-year-old Selina Bennetts Ly was driving four friends home around 11pm on Thursday night, when she crossed onto a median strip and collided with a tree at Wetherill Park.

Selina tragically died at the scene, while her friends – two boys aged 16 and 17 and two girls aged 17 and 19 – were taken to Liverpool and Westmead hospitals for further treatment.

Their injuries are considered serious – but not life-threatening.

Selina’s father Sok told The Saturday Telegraph he was devastated by the loss of his “little girl”.

“I’m not sure what to say right now, she loves to spend time with me every time I go out she will come along,” he said.

“She loves computer games, she’s a big lover of pets. Selina is daddy’s little girl who never once has spoken back and always respects me.”

“I can say I’m really proud of her. I just wish I had the chance to.”

CCTV captured the horror crash, showing the car travelling westbound along The Horsley Drive, before crossing one lane, mounting the median strip and colliding with the tree.

Residents three streets away told the Telegraph they heard the “huge crash”.

“I couldn’t believe the noise,” one said.

“Those poor kids, the sound was huge, enormous.”

More than a dozen people have been killed on NSW roads in the last two weeks.

A brake disk from the vehicle and other debris were found almost 90 metres from the crash scene on Friday morning, cleared from the road by stunned local workers.

Fairfield police are investigating the incident and asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

Just a day prior a fatal crash involving a car and motorcycle in Sydney’s west left two people dead and a third fighting for their life.

NSW Police believe the drivers involved were breaching road rules at the time.

The long list of horrific road-related deaths within the last fortnight included a father and his 11-year-old daughter who died while riding in the back of a DiDi in Sydney’s south.

Elsewhere across the state, a young man and woman were killed near Coffs Harbour last week after crashing into a tree.

Two days later, a 19-year-old man died after crashing into a tree near Mudgee.
