Two men charged over the shooting death of drug dealer David King have not applied for bail when their matters were briefly mentioned in Newcastle bail court on Saturday.
Tyson George Stamp, 27, has been charged with murder, kidnapping and other offences after he was allegedly at the scene of the August 29 alleged murder before driving the getaway vehicle.
Adam Kane Garvey, 39, is facing charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder and accessory after the fact to kidnapping.
Strike Force Breve detectives arrested the pair in separate operations on Friday, with Stamp taken into custody near a Heatherbrae service station and Garvey arrested near Charlestown Square.
Detectives will allege Stamp was on Hideaway Close at Salt Ash where Mr King was shot in the face with a shotgun.
They also allege a woman, who was with Mr King but not involved in the alleged murder, was detained by Stamp and others before being released without harm.
The arrests came following a week of intensive pleas for public assistance by Port Stephens-Hunter police, who have been hunting the alleged killers of the Tanilba Bay man following his daylight shooting more than two months ago.
A series of vision clips from security cameras at Heatherbrae and Raymond Terrace were released as detectives sought further information about a Santa Fe SUV found burnt out off Masonite Rd shortly after the alleged slaying.
They will allege Stamp was the driver of the Santa Fe, using it to transport people from the Salt Ash crime scene back to Raymond Terrace before setting fire to the car.
Detectives will also allege he did not fire the shotgun but was at the scene at the time of the shooting.
Mr King, who was on bail for drug dealing offences, was allegedly shot in the face at close range while he drove his Ford Ranger utility along Hideaway Close.
He died at the scene.
Both Stamp and Garvey did not appear via video link when their matters were briefly mentioned in Newcastle Bail Court on Saturday morning.
They did not apply for bail and have not been required to enter a plea.
Both men were formally refused bail to appear in Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday.
