Detectives investigating the murder of David King are seeking to identify a man depicted in security vision stopping on a Heatherbrae road and picking up a wallet before driving off.
The man, who police have stressed is not a suspect in Mr King’s brutal shotgun murder on August 29, is seen to get out of a white four-wheel drive on Masonite Road before crossing the street and picking up the wallet.
The wallet had remained on the side of the road in the industrial area after the same camera had earlier recorded it dropping out of the pocket of another man as he threw an object onto the roof of a nearby building.
The industrial area is less than one kilometre from where a Santa Fe was found burnt out off Masonite Rd shortly after Mr King was shot dead about 15km away at Salt Ash.
A police statement said detectives believed that the Santa Fe “is linked to the shooting’’ of Mr King.
The Tanilba Bay man, 45, was shot in the face with a shotgun while he was driving his Ford Ranger on Hideaway Place about 1.45pm on August 29.
Police believe the murder was targeted and may have been the consequence of a drug deal gone wrong.
Strike Force Breve was set up to investigate Mr King’s murder, with detectives releasing the Masonite Rd footage in an attempt to identify both men.
The first man is seen walking along Masonite Rd before throwing an object onto a roof of a nearby building.
The footage also shows his wallet falling from his pants as he throws the object.
The second man is shown to get out of the white four-wheel drive and walk across the street to grab the wallet before walking back to the car and driving off.
“It is not believed this man is linked to the death of David King,’’ police said in a statement.
Information can be forwarded to Strike Force Breve detectives at Raymond Terrace police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
