The family of Amy Hazouri — killed in a hail of bullets as she sat in a car with her friend Lametta Fadlallah — will lay her to rest in Sydney rather than Lebanon.

Murdered hairdresser Amy Hazouri will be laid to rest in Sydney rather than repatriated to Lebanon, her family has decided.

The much-loved woman, 39, was killed alongside her friend Lametta Fadlallah on August 13, as they sat in the back of a car at Panania.

Ms Hazouri’s funeral service has been delayed while her mother in Lebanon fought to have her daughter’s body flown back home, but her father’s wishes were that she would be buried in Sydney.

However, the family has now agreed she will be buried at Rookwood Cemetery, following a funeral service at Lakemba Mosque on Friday.

Jocelyne Chidiac, whose salon at Bankstown Ms Hazouri worked at, announced the arrangements on behalf of Ms Hazouri’s father.

“Thank you all for your support and patience,” she posted.

She then wrote: “Come back even as a shadow, even as a dream” alongside photos of Ms Hazouri.

Ms Hazouri was sitting beside her friend Ms Fadlallah when an unknown gunman opened fire and shot at the pair up to 16 times.

Police said Ms Hazouri was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” and that Ms Fadlallah was the intended target.

Ms Fadlallah was laid to rest on Monday.

An online fundraiser set up to fly Ms Hazouri’s body back to Lebanon raised over $18,000.

Her sister Manal Raunegger said the money raised would go towards her Sydney funeral costs.

“If there was any money leftover, we would like to donate the money to someone else who needs it,” she said.
