A man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting two women and threatening a man with a knife in a string of attacks across the New England region of NSW.

Police allege the 33-year-old man launched a series of attacks in Uralla and nearby Kentucky on Sunday morning, prompting a large-scale response involving PolAir and multiple crime scenes.

Emergency services were first called to John Street in Uralla shortly before 9.40am on Sunday following reports of a stabbing.

Officers were told a woman had been assaulted with a knife before the attacker allegedly fled in a Holden sedan.

The 33-year-old victim suffered facial injuries and was treated by paramedics before being taken to Armidale Hospital in a stable condition.

A short time later, police were called to a second incident on Rowan Avenue in Uralla, where a 23-year-old man reported being threatened with a knife by the same man.

The alleged offender was unable to enter the home and again fled in the Holden.

Around 11am, police responded to a third incident on Noalimba Avenue in Kentucky, where a 22-year-old woman had suffered lacerations to her hand and mouth in another alleged knife assault.

She was also treated by paramedics and taken to Armidale Hospital for further treatment.

In response, officers – supported by PolAir – launched a targeted operation to locate the alleged offender.

By 12.35pm, police attended a property on East St in Uralla, where the man was found hiding inside a children’s cubby house.

He was arrested at the scene and taken to Armidale Police Station. Officers also seized a knife from the cubby house and located the Holden sedan nearby.

Police have established a crime scene at multiple locations across Uralla and investigations into the incidents has commenced.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with information about any of the incidents to contact New England Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
