Love Island Australia star Sadee Sub Laban hands himself into police after Circular Quay assault

Ex Penrith Panthers junior and Love Island star Sadee Sub Laban was allegedly seen arguing with an 18-year-old at Circular Quay waterfront before a brawl which put the teen in hospital.

A former Love Island Australia star and promising rugby league player will face court next month after allegedly bashing a teenager in a vicious brawl during Vivid’s opening weekend.

Ex-Penrith Panthers Junior footballer Sadee Sub Laban handed himself into police after an appeal for information to a serious assault that left a teenager, 18, needing hospital treatment for multiple facial fractures.

The former Penrith Panthers under-20s player was allegedly seen arguing with a man on the Circular Quay waterfront before a fight broke out between them that had to be diffused by onlookers.

The teenager was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where he was treated for his injuries during the early hours of Sunday.

Shortly after, the 18-year-old attended the Rocks Police Station to report the fight.

Police launched an appeal for information prompting Laban, 20, from Rouse Hill, to attend St Marys Police Station about 5.30pm yesterday.

He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and was bailed with strict conditions to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on June 22.

Last year Laban quietly vanished from social media during his stint on Channel 9 dating show Love Island amid complaints about his conduct on dating apps.

Responding to one Instagram user who claimed he contacted her on social media when she was 16, he said: “Just so you know, honey, 16 is legal age.”

“You followed me and I may have replied, but it’s not illegal to reply to a 16-year-old, and secondly, you hit me up and I got that screenshot,” he added.

Laban went on to say the unproven claims being made against him were several years old and when he was a minor.

“If there was hundreds of girls going to [the] police to report me … I’m pretty sure police wouldn’t keep me on the outside world,” he told followers on Instagram at the time.

He said that within an hour of entering the Love Island villa, he was questioned by producers who asked him about the claims.

“I was told what was happening... What was going on was massive on the outside world,” he said at the time, adding that he was “ready to leave” once he heard about the unproven rumours.

Laban fiercely denied the anonymous reports and was unavailable for comment.
