Five charged after violent brawl on Bertram St, Coonamble

Three women and two men have been charged after a brawl in the state’s west, with one member of the group flown across the state to a Sydney hospital after suffering a stab wound.

Five people have been charged after an alleged violent assault in the state’s west, with one member of the group flown across the state after suffering a stab wound.

It comes after emergency services were called to a home on Bertram St in Coonamble following reports of an alleged assault between three women and two men about 2pm on Monday.

Officers from the Orana Mid-Western Police District attended the home and were told a group of people were allegedly involved in a brawl, before one man was taken to Coonamble Hospital with a stab wound to his left arm.

Police attended Coonamble Hospital and spoke with the injured 40-year-old man.

He was later flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney where he is in a stable condition, according to latest reports.

A crime scene was established at the home and police started an investigation into the incident.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man at a home on Limerick Street, Coonamble, about 9pm the same day.

He was taken to Coonamble Police Station, charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and refused bail.

He appeared before Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday where he was again refused bail and will return to court in two weeks time.

Following further inquiries, police arrested four people in the Coonamble area on Wednesday, two days after the alleged brawl.

A 31-year-old woman was charged with entering a dwelling and affray. She was granted conditional bail to appear at Coonamble Local Court in two weeks time.

A 28-year-old woman was also charged with entering a dwelling and affray. She was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today.

A 25-year-old man was charged with affray and was granted conditional bail to appear at Coonamble Local Court in December.

A 27-year-old woman was charged with entering enclosed land without and was granted conditional bail to appear at Coonamble Local Court on the same day in December.

Inquiries are continuing.
