A fifth person has been charged by detectives over their alleged involvement in the case of a fatal stabbing of a teenager in Sydney’s west.
About 2.50am on June 4, emergency services were called to Australis Drive, Ropes Crossing, following reports of a stabbing. On arrival, officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a stab wound.
Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived; however, the boy tragically died at the scene.
Detectives, assisted by State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Bobr to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At the time of the incident, police said the stabbing of the young boy was not gang-related, and was sparked by a fight over a girl.
They said the teen and his attackers attended the home for a “gathering” before a disagreement over a girl who was also at the home spilt out onto the front lawn of the house. One of the teens then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, before fleeing the area.
Friends of the boy said he was “such a good kid” and that his family were “shattered” over his death.
So far three teenage boys – two aged 17 and a 16-year-old – as well as a 35-year-old woman, have been charged over their alleged roles in the incident and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, strike force detectives arrested a 38-year-old woman at a home in Tregear about 12pm on Thursday. She was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station and charged with accessory after the fact to murder and possessing a prohibited drug.
The Tregear woman was refused bail to appear before Mount Druitt Local Court on Friday. Inquiries under Strike Force Bobr continue.
