Dying gangster Mejid Hamzy ran to the home of a Kings Cross identity who lived around the corner after he had been shot, The Daily Telegraph has learned.
Hamzy, 44, was shot as he left his Condell Park home at 7.30am on October 19, 2020.
Clutching his wounds, he ran up a hill away from his Simmat Ave home and into nearby Curtin Place where he collapsed at the door of Wissam Amer.
Amer, 38, who is still well known in Kings Cross, was home with his wife and children at the time of the shooting, which has been confirmed by police.
“No one should talk about the dead or anything else,’’ Mr Amer said when The Daily Telegraph phoned him.
He said he knew nothing about the underworld anymore.
His lawyer, Fadi Abbas, when contacted by The Telegraph said his client would not be commenting any further.
The Telegraph is not suggesting Mr Amer had anything to do with the shooting or is involved in any crimes.
Two men have been charged in relation to the murder of Mejid Hamzy, which was the first death in a string of public shootings across Sydney.
The attack on him and 10 underworld murders on Sydney streets since are central to a new documentary series, on The Daily Telegraph’s website.
The first episode was launched on Monday, detailing how senior Comanchero bikie Tarek Zahed and his brother Omar were showered in bullets as they left a gym in Auburn, claiming the life of Omar and critically injuring Tarek.
Episode two is now, taking viewers through the brutal blood murder of Mejid Hamzy and also the meteoric rise of Comanchero boss Mark Buddle. Watch it in the video player above.
