Court documents reveal fresh claims in alleged OneFour murder plot

Extraordinary new claims have emerged in court about how a team of five men allegedly planned to kill Sydney’s most high profile — and controversial — rap groups.

Fake police uniforms and a bogus vehicle stop were allegedly at the centre of an incredible plot to kill members of controversial Mt Druitt rap group OneFour.

The Daily Telegraph can exclusively reveal group frontman Jerome ‘J Emz’ Misa had been earmarked as the primary target by the alleged assassins, however they allegedly believed taking out “any of the main 4 would be good” - and were promised a hefty payday if the plan succeeded.

The extraordinary new details of the alleged plot were contained in never-before-seen police documents tendered to the NSW Supreme Court earlier this month as one of the men charged over the conspiracy - 27-year-old Brandon Maseuli - applied for bail.

The court heard police uncovered the alleged murder plot after seizing Maseuli’s phone in December last year as part of investigations under Strike Force Tromperie, a 14-month probe into the Haouchar organised crime network.

Officers combed through hundreds of encrypted messages between Maseuli and four other co-accused, one of whom police allege is Anthony Pele, an associate of the Haouchars who is currently overseas and also wanted for questioning in relation to the shooting death of Ahmad Al-Azzam at Greenacre last July.

“We need a mounty boy to be dead!!! And dead ASAP,” Pele allegedly told the group in early September last year, according to the documents.

“We’ve got good $ for this dog dead. 2 gats. 2 hotties ready to go,” another alleged conspirator wrote.

A few days later, while allegedly discussing logistics, one member of the group suggested they pick a primary target from OneFour’s main line-up, consisting of Spencer “Spenny” Magalogo, Dahcell “Celly14” Ramos, Pio ‘YP’ Misa, and his brother Jerome “J Emz” Misa.

“I know use (sic) don’t care, once job done, payment next day,” he wrote.

“Any of the main 4 would be good,” another replied.

Police allege the group agreed that Jerome Misa should be the main target, with Pele allegedly suggesting they dress up as police officers and enact a fake vehicle stop, where they could then “empty the clipns (sic) in em (sic)”.

The court heard one of the group gathered bottles of bleach, four sets of police uniforms, jerry cans and gloves in preparation for the alleged murder, while others obtained burner phones and stolen vehicles, which police allege were used in a bid to surveil the rappers at their known haunts, including a Mount Druitt tobacconist, gyms in both Marsden Park and St Marys and a recording studio in Woolloomooloo.

However, after their efforts over multiple days proved fruitless in locating OneFour, the group concluded the rappers were on the Gold Coast and resumed deliberating about the logistics of the hit, the court documents state.

It is alleged those talks ceased on October 7, and the messages turned to discussing the hiring of an Airbnb for the purpose of extracting almost a kilogram of methamphetamine contained in clothing sent from overseas.

Meanwhile, police raided a can belonging to one of the alleged group members on November 14, locating three guns inside a hidden compartment.

Maseuli was arrested on December 15 over his alleged involvement in an attempted kidnapping in March 2023.

He was released on bail the following day but police allege within 12 hours he was planning a second kidnapping, which allegedly involved detaining a man inside a unit block in northern Sydney in order to steal his cocaine.

However, the plan fell apart when the group became trapped in the garage and were arrested by police, who subsequently found a whopping 722kg of cocaine worth $1 billion inside the alleged victim’s unit.

Maseuli, who was rearrested on January 11, has been hit with 77 charges, including conspiracy to murder, kidnapping, commercial drug supply and firearm offences. He is yet to enter pleas.

In seeking bail earlier this month, Maseuli told the court through his legal team that he needed to be at liberty to receive ongoing treatment on his leg, which had been badly injured in a motorcycle accident in 2020.

The court heard Maseuli had had more than 30 surgeries since the accident and was at risk of losing the limb if the wound became infected.

However, Justice Stephen Rothman refused to release Maseuli, finding there was a serious risk of him committing further offences and endangering community safety if he was at liberty.

The case will return to court at a later date.
