A South Coast army veteran who has denied a string of serious child sex abuse allegations will fight the charges in a District Court trial.
Christopher Roberts, 66, appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday pleading not guilty to two counts of indecently assaulting a child under the age of 10, and four counts of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10.
Roberts – who the court heard previously served in the Australian Army – was also charged with inciting someone under the age of 10 to commit an indecent act, but that charge was withdrawn.
Roberts’ charges stem from allegations he sexually abused and had intercourse with a child in the Eurobodalla region in 2014.
In court, Roberts’ lawyer Adam Sumbak entered the not guilty pleas, before confirming his client’s case would be moving jurisdictions to the District Court.
Magistrate Doug Dick adjourned the case for country call-over in Sydney District Court on July 30.
Roberts’ trial will commence at a later date.
