Boy, 17, charged over alleged luxury car, shoe theft at Glenhaven, Oatlands, Caringbah

A teenage boy who allegedly embarked on a crime spree with a group and stole luxury cars and shoes across Sydney has been arrested in the state’s central west. Read the latest.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a spate of luxury vehicles and cars were stolen from Sydney’s northwest and south in June and July.

Strike Force Sweetenham detectives were called to a home on Wayfield Way, Glenhaven, where a Mercedes GLC and a Dodge Ram were allegedly stolen on June 10 about 4am.

About 5.30am officers responded to reports of an attempted break-in on a home in Volmer St, Oatlands, where eight pairs of luxury shoes worth about $14,000 were allegedly stolen.

A car parked on Volmer St had also allegedly been broken into where a wallet containing cash was stolen.

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday June 11, three motorbikes were allegedly stolen during a break-in from a business on Parraweena Rd, Caringbah.

About 8am on Monday (July 8) officers arrested a 17-year-old boy at a home in Dubbo where he allegedly resisted arrest.

He was taken to Dubbo police station and charged with 15 offences including three counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, three counts of attempt aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, take drive conveyance withouts consent of the owner and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

The teenager was refused bail to appear at a children’s court where he was remanded in custody to re-appear on July 15.

Police will allege in court the teenager was involved in the incidents with other co-offenders.

Strike Force Sweetenham is a metropolitan region investigation into the theft of high-performance and luxury vehicles.
