CHARLOTTE Caslick admits it’s always difficult as a team player to win an individual award.

It why when she was named best female rugby sevens player in the world last week she ensured her teammates knew the part they played in her success.

“It is hard as a team player to get individual rewards,” she said.

“All seven of us work so well together. We allow each other to be the best we can be.’’

Caslick is the second Australian woman to claim the Women’s World Sevens Player of the Year award after team mate Emilee Cherry’s victory in 2014.

A former touch footy player, Caslick claimed her world rugby honour for a sterling seven-try performance at the Olympic Games and helping Australian to its World Series win.

She has earned Swoop Play of the Week not just for these feats but also for being such a great sport.

Caslick has joined the likes of Ruan Sims, surfer Layne Beachley, the Southern Stars, the Australian Paralympic team, netballers Caitlin Bassett and Madi Robinson, new WBBL cricketer Renee Straumietis and Olympic track cyclist Anna Meares as a winner of a Swoop Play of the Day, Play of the Week or Play of the Weekend winner.

Caslick said she hoped her teammates would all take something for themselves from her individual award after the Australian women strangely missed being nominated in the team of the year category like the men’s Olympic champions Fiji.

Caslick was this year also named in World Rugby’s 2015-16 Dream Team and was named the Shawn Mackay Award recipient for Australia’s most outstanding female player at the John Eales Medal
