Sydney Uni Flames import Asia Taylor makes WNBL Team of the Week

SYDNEY Uni Flames coach Cheryl Chambers will look to import Asia Taylor to play a starring role for the side against the Melbourne Boomers in their round six outing of the WNBL after the American cracked her second team of the week in less than a month.

Taylor, who made a round-high 13 rebounds as the Flame were edged out in a thriller with Townsville, was named in the WNBL Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Taylor joins Capitals star Marianna Tolo, Fire’s Mia Murray, Bendigo’s Kelsey Griffin and Canberra scoring sensations Lauren Mansfield in the team.

Asia Taylor played a big role for the Flames against the Fire.

“She players her heart out, gives heart and soul,’’ Chambers said.

“She does not leave a thing behind when she takes the court. Just gives everything. She’s just great.’’

Chambers said the Flames need Taylor to be on song when they take on her old team in Sydney on Friday night.

‘’To be honest I’m still cute up about last weekend’s loss,’’ she said of the Flames’ overtime defeat in Townsville.

“We need a win. We need it for the ladder but also for confidence,’’ she said.

The Flames take on the Boomers at 7.30pm on Friday at Bryden’s Stadium,
