SHE’S the pint-sized Olympic surfing and skateboarding aspirant armed with tips from Mick Fanning, a diet from Sally Fitzgibbons and given “the best present in the entire world’’ - and a big future on and off the waves.
Newcastle grom Sabre Norris, 11, became the youngest surfer ever awarded a wildcard into a major Australian event when she lined-up in the Sally Fitzgibbons world qualifying series Sydney Pro at Cronulla.
And while she didn’t make it out of her round, she turned plenty of heads with her arsenal of surfing tracks.
“I think it’s because Sally (Fitzgibbons) likes to feel good by doing nice things for other people,’’ Norris said when she was named as the wildcard. “She could have picked any girl in the entire, whole wide world, but she picked me. And sometimes I’m not that good.’’
When not surfing Sabre spends much of her time out of the water making mockumentaries with her siblings, starring her favourite surfer Fanning.

WHY SAL'S THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
“When I met him he was so caring and he really helps me. He even helps Biggy get on waves behind the rocks.
“I just want people to say when they see me, ‘damn, did you see that little girl surf’ and then come and have a go too.’’
Norris says her long-term goal is to be surfing on the world tour with siblings Sockie, 9, Biggy, 7, and Naz 5.

“You can get pretty lonely on the world tour so this way they would all have to come with me. Then we’d have someone to say ‘that was sick’ when we get a good wave,’’ Norris said.
“Also, say if Sockie was going for the world title and I was in the same final, I’d be able to help her win it.’’
Sabre says while she love skateboarding — a video of her at nine becoming only the third female to land a vertical 540-degree rotation manoeuvre went viral — she already realises she may have to choose between surfing and skateboarding ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
But if she makes Tokyo she already has a mission to complete — to visit the food hall and break her father Justin’s record of eating 97 chicken nuggets.
Justin Norris competed at the Sydney Olympics and won a butterfly medal.
“I could do 100,’’ said Sabre, who says Fitzgibbons has helped her eat healthier most of the time.
“But maybe I could do it with something healthier like salad. Nope. I’ll probably do nuggets.’’
