THREE teams have their foot on the top rung of the ladder in the W-league after round one action.
Perth, however, have earned the right to sit atop for the first week thanks to their two-goal win.
Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City also notched round wins to make promising starts to the season.

ROAR V SYDNEY FC
Brisbane Roar 2 (Allira Toby 55’, Katrina Gorry 66’)
Sydney FC 1 (Caitlin Foord 52’).
Matildas star Katrina Gorry first equalised for Roar and then put them ahead in this thrilling encounter.
The crowd of 3105 was the largest stand-alone attendance in Westfield W-League history for a regular-season match.
GLORY V WANDERERS
Perth Glory 4 (Caitlin Doeglas 1’, Rosie Sutton 22’, Sam Kerr 68’, 83’)
Western Sydney Wanderers 2 (Joanne Burgess 39’, Helen Petinos 50’)
Perth scored the most goals in round one of any team as captain Sam Kerr led by example to scored twice in the second half.
MELBOURNE CITY V JETS
Melbourne City 1 (Marianna Tabain 8’)
Newcastle Jets 0
Defending champions Melbourne City had their work cut out for them as they claimed the win against the Jets thanks to an early goal from Marianna Tabain in the eighth minute of the match.
UNITED V VICTORY
Adelaide United 3 (Stella Rigon 13’, Adriana Jones 20’, Monica 73’)
Melbourne Victory 3 (Natasha Dowie 16’, 64’, Selin Kuralay 81’)
Melbourne Victory equalised three times in this thriller which was the only draw of the opening round of the W-League.
What’s next
Round two’s TV matches will see Canberra United host Melbourne City on Saturday and the local derby between Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday. Both matches will be played as part of Hyundai A-League double-headers.
