IT might have been easier without her but the Flames are happy Liz Cambage has taken her suspension on the chin and will be back on the floor for the Sydney/Melbourne match-up on Sunday.
Cambage took an early plea after being found guilty of unduly rough play for kneeing Canberra’s American import Mistie Bass in the hamstring during the last round of the WNBL.

“Liz accepts the finding of the GRP [game review panel] and we look forward to seeing her back in action this Sunday,” said Boomers general manager Justin Nelson.
The multiple Olympian, back in the WNBL after time playing in the WNBA and China, found herself in strife when footage of the round seven incident came to light.
The early plea means Cambage will be absent from the top-of-the-table clash with Townsville on Thursday but back on the court for the game against the defending WNBL champions in Melbourne on Sunday.

“The result will show us where we really are in the league.’’
Cambage is the first player this season to be suspended.

“The incident which occurred in the second quarter of the round [seven] match was seen by the GRP to be intentional, with high impact contact occurring to the body, resulting in a two-game suspension.”
