A TEENAGER coach Tim Walsh describes as a “dogged fighter’’ will make her HSBC World Series debut in Dubai later this month when the Australian women’s sevens team opens its campaign to reclaim the series title.
The sevens side are on a mission to improve on their second place finish to New Zealand in the last series as they amp up their preparation to win gold at next year’s Commonwealth Games.

And along for the ride is 17-year-old Page McGregor, who in 12 months has gone from playing in the Commonwealth Youth Games team to being a full-fledged member of the senior side.
McGregor ran with her chance to impress in both the Aon University Sevens Series and in her Australian debut at the Oceania championships in Fiji last week to make the cut for the Australia team heading to Dubai.
“I have been really impressed with how Page (McGregor) has thrown herself into everything this year and she has left no stone unturned when it comes to her preparation,’’ Walsh said.

“Quick on her feet and a dogged fighter, she is proving that she has what it takes to be an Australian women’s sevens player.”
Australia is in Pool B with Japan, England and Russia in Dubai with Walsh confident his team is well prepared.
“We have had our biggest pre-season to date this year and the squad has prepared really well,’’ he said.
“Preseason offered plenty of hard work, tournaments and some lessons in growth and self-awareness. We have had some good performances and feel that season 2017-2018 offers us a year to remember.’’
