IT’S been a key to success all season and St George Illawarra coach Daniel Lacey believes the team to score first in Saturday’s NRL women’s grand final will most likely win.
In every game bar one this season the best starting team has gone on to win the hour long match.
Aieshaleigh Smalley’s try for the Warriors in the third minute in their 32-10 loss to the Broncos last week was the only exception in three rounds of matches.

“I think the start will be crucial. It has been in every other game. Someone breaks out and the team just carries on,” Lacey said.
“Who scores first wins. There is momentum and confidence from getting the first try.”
Lacey said the Brisbane Broncos are deserved of their favouritism to lift the first NRL women’s crown.
“You would say off the back of momentum, of them not losing yet, that Brisbane will go in as favourites,” he said
“I’m not sure about injuries playing a part, but you’d be going with the Broncos and thinking they will have a little more fire in the belly. They would hate to bow out after winning three straight.
“But then again, the Roosters have nothing to lose. They got there by the skin of their teeth by winning the last game.”

WNBL DRAW: Double headers and rematches
Taleena Simon, the four try hero of the Roosters 26-0 routing of the Dragons last Saturday, could be the X-factor for the Roosters.
Simon’s form under pressure helped secure the Roosters their spot in Sundya’s season decider.
