SuperCoach NRL: Winners & Losers - Round 11

Former champion Dave Von Kotze reveals the low-ownership gems that can set you apart from the pack for the Round 12 bye.

1) Manu Ma’u ($544,500/ 2 per cent ownership)

The big, angry man is back and over the past month Ma’u has worked his way back into POD contention as we approach round twelve. His minutes have been on the increase over the past four games and the dual CTW/2RF option popped onto the radar of SuperCoaches last weekend when he scored his points with an economical PPM of 1.1 as he knocked out 69 points (53 base) in 62 minutes. Named at lock again this weekend to take on the Panthers he could be worth a crack despite his break-even of 79.

2) Jarrod Croker ($526,900/ 14 per cent ownership)

Forget last week’s score of 33 as well as his break-even of 87, the time is now to jump on Croker with an upcoming run against the Cowboys (h) and Bulldogs (a). He is showing all the makings of a season long keeper scoring over 60 in six of his ten games so far in 2019 and the fact that he has averaged an extra 15 points a game in his last seven games from an accurate goal kicking boot makes him a handy player to have in your squad.

Carnage has once again riddled NRL SuperCoach sides in Round 11, with a popular cash cow set to miss the all important Round 12 bye. Join Rob Sutherland and Tim Williams for the lowdown.

3) Dylan Walker ($313,500 / 2 per cent ownership)

A fresh Dylan Walker strapped the boots on for the first time this season against the Sharks last Sunday and made a strong case for selection to make money and provide cover until round sixteen. A try without a line break helped him kick the year off with 59 points but he was busy throughout the game notching 15 tackles, two tackle busts, two offloads and 21 points from 13 runs. He deserves serious consideration this week before suiting up to play the Titans and Panthers in round twelve.

4) Aiden Tolman ($537,500/ 2 per cent ownership)

Tolman is as close to a guaranteed 60-65 points in round twelve as they come. He has scored his points with a PPM greater than 1 for the last five rounds and would not look out of place as an 18th or 19th man to cover the final run home. With a break-even of 46, his price isn’t expected to increase by too much this weekend but season, three and five game averages of 62, 65 and 67 speak volumes as to how safe this workhorse is as a SuperCoach option and should he get off the nudie run with a 17-pointer in round twelve, his small percentage of owners will make up huge ground on the field.

5) Addin Fonua-Blake ($522,800/ 2 per cent ownership)

AFB was a wrecking ball last week ripping out 50 points in base as well as a try, try assist, two line breaks and a line break assist on the way to 111 points. His recent minutes suggest that he won’t be replicating the 63 minutes he played in round one but he has averaged 75 points in the five games where he hasn’t suffered injury so far this year so there is plenty of upside in the trade. As well as racking up the points he is also expected to make decent cash in the process starting this week with a break-even of 43 and if he scores 50 points this week he will have a break-even somewhere in the 20s leading into round twelve.

6) Kieran Foran ($465,400/ 1 per cent ownership)

Foran is a HFB/5/8 option who currently has the second highest three-game average of any HFB option. His three-game average is slightly skewed as the games have been spread out between rounds three, nine and ten however four try assists and three line break assists in the last two rounds deserve mentioning. He has a break-even of 35 this week but a tough match up will be on the cards against the Storm.

7) Elliott Whitehead ($487,900/ 5 per cent ownership)

SuperCoaches have dual CTW/2RF options coming out the Wazoo this season and Whitehead is another one of the numerous options to upgrade the injured Jayden Okunbor to this week. Scores of 74, 63 and 78 make up his three-game average of 71 and while there have been an array of attacking stats including three try assists and two line breaks to make up those scores, there is no reason why those attacking stats couldn’t continue in the following weeks during a favourable run of games. He has a break-even of 30 so it is unlikely that he would lose money in the next few weeks so definitely one for the watch list.

8) Dale Copley ($391,200/ 0.1 per cent ownership)

Apart from Jai Arrow (32 per cent) and to a much lesser extent Bryce Cartwright (13 per cent), Titans players appear to have spiders on them and most SuperCoaches are avoiding them like the plague despite their early bye coverage. Dale Copley is currently in only 169 teams but there are a few stats which suggest that he could be a left field option to cover round twelve. His current season average is 47 but that average includes his score of 1 in eight minutes of game time during round seven and if we take into account that he has scored five tries in eight games and also take out his two injury affected games this year he actually has a respectable six-game average of 60. He will take on Manly this weekend with a break-even of 5 before playing a Cowboys team at home in round twelve that will be missing their Origin stars.

9) Nick Cotric ($363,000/ 5 per cent ownership)

Cotric played his first game at centre last weekend and didn’t disappoint from a SuperCoach point of view having a much busier day and making up the bulk of his 65 points with 39 base points. Despite passing the eye test and donning a very achievable break-even of 36 there is risk involved with this trade and potential owners need to consider that he may grab a wing spot for the first Origin game.

10) James Fisher-Harris ($537,400/ 15 per cent ownership)

As per usual in SuperCoach world, life is pretty hectic and injuries as well as rumours of popular players gaining Origin selection are playing havoc with our bye planning. However, JFH with his very beneficial dual FRF/2RF flexibility has shown more than enough to warrant selection. At just over 15 per cent ownership he is technically out of POD range but with all the current madness an option as solid as this shouldn’t be left out. Many players elect to roll with a quality over quantity strategy with their playing rosters this time of year and JFH definitely sits in the quality column playing the full-eighty in all but one game this year and holding down an average of 64. Those considering the trade may also want to know that he has been named at lock to take on the Eels this weekend and in the six games in which he has worn the 13 jumper in 2019 he has averaged 69 points.
