Fans go to Jubilee Stadium to cheer on the NRL Dragons or A-League Sydney FC but soon they will see a new name sponsor at the field.

Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, also referred to as Kogarah Oval, hosts several codes at the Carlton ground across the sporting calendar.

Georges River Council is seeking proposals for the naming rights sponsorship.

A council spokeswoman said there was no specific amount the successful sponsor was required to pay because “the value was market driven”.

The current sponsorship with Netstrata expires in January 2023 and as a council-managed venue, the council wants to “maximise commercial opportunities” to continue managing and maintaining the community asset.

The contract for Netstrata was extended for 12 months and there was no provision in the agreement for further extension, the spokeswoman said.

Council is offering this sponsorship for a minimum three-year period with a further three-year option.

Mayor Nick Katris has encouraged commercial operators to express their interest, particularly due to the prominence of the stadium.

“Imagine promoting your brand, building customer loyalty, and reaching a larger audience, all while supporting sports and recreation activities in our local community,” he said.

“Ultimately, sponsorships and naming rights are a smart move if you are looking to raise your business profile and want to give back.”

Cr Katris noted the stadium would continue to be called Jubilee, with only the commercial name changing.

The spokeswoman would not disclose which organisations had already expressed interest, nor whether there was a shortlist.

Most famous for NRL, the stadium is the home ground for St George-Illawarra Dragons.

It hosted the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks’ seasons in 2020 and 2021, along with other NRL matches.

Since 2018, the stadium has been the home ground for the A-League’s Sydney FC, featuring both men’s and women’s fixtures.

In August 2022, the first ever AFL match was played at the stadium, with the view to expand into the football code.

All NRL, AFL and A-League matches at Jubilee Stadium are broadcast to television and streaming services.

Notably, the stadium will be used as a training site for teams participating in FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.

This is the first time in the game’s history where competing countries will use dedicated training sites during the tournament.

Community sporting group fixtures are also featured at the stadium, including NSW Rugby League, District Junior Rugby League and Junior Representatives.

Since February 2017, the venue has been managed and operated by Georges River Council and has experienced enormous growth in diverse sporting content.

There are further plans for Jubilee Stadium to host cultural and entertainment events too.

The tenders will be evaluated on the criteria outlined in the tender documents and the successful applicant will be announced when the council has approved the recommendation at the next council meeting, which is standard process.

A decision is expected by the end of 2022.

All interested parties, companies, businesses, or organisations may enter into a sponsorship agreement for the naming rights.

Tender information and documents are available on the Vendor Panel website.

Submissions close 10am on November 8.
