SuperCoach BBL late mail ahead of Round 10
Rain reduced Sydney Sixers clash with Hobart Hurricanes to six overs on Thursday and more interruptions are expected during the last game of SuperCoach BBL Round 10. LATE MAIL.

It difficult to recall a round this season where SuperCoaches have been this conflicted.
The Sydney Sixers boast seven players who average 50 points or more in BBL09 – including the fourth highest SuperCoach scorer in the competition, all-rounder Tom Curran.
But both matches in their double game week are under threat from the weather gods, with heavy rain predicted to hit Sydney ahead of Saturday’s Sydney Smash.

The Sixers snuck in 6.4 overs against Hobart in the opening game of Round 10 before play was abandoned, with Daniel Hughes (32) the topscoring Sixer.
Wicket-takers Scott Boland (45) and Clive Rose (45) were the top scorers in the fixture.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a 90 per cent chance of rain in Sydney today with about 6mm forecast between 5pm-11pm tonight.
Nathan Lyon is due to make his BBL return in the Sydney Smash.
ICYMI: The club is encouraging fans to attend as we'll be giving the match every chance to go ahead. Weather conditions will be assessed on the evening with decisions around delays or possible abandonment unlikely to be made prior to match start time. #ThunderNation

PATTINSON ILLNESS LEAVES COACHES SHORT
James Pattinson missed Brisbane Heat’s crushing loss to Adelaide Strikers on Friday but is in the squad for Monday’s clash with Melbourne Renegades.
Opening batsman Max Bryant has paid the price for a poor run of form, with Sam Heazlett taking his place in the squad to face the Renegades.
Bryant has only managed 145 runs in 10 BBL09 innings with a top score of 65.
The right-hander opened with Tom Banton at the start of the tournament but his omission will mean Brisbane has two new openers — one of which is likely to be skipper Chris Lynn.
The Renegades are unchanged for game one of Round 11.
SCORCHERS SIGN MORKEL
Perth Scorchers have announced the signing of former South African paceman Morne Morkel, although he might only play once this summer.
Morkel will be available for the last game of the home-and-away season on January 26 as the Scorchers prepare to lose England paceman Chris Jordan to international duties.
We are super excited to announce we have locked in South African star @mornemorkel65 for the final games of our #BBL09 campaign ð¥replacing fan favourite CJ who departs for England duties ð More >> https://t.co/vPW9GfQR4x #MADETOUGH pic.twitter.com/K2ATl1q2Z5

DO WE OR DON’T WE?
Despite the obvious disadvantage for players in this game, master blaster Tom Banton logged 109 SuperCoach points after hammering his way to 56 off 19 deliveries.
Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams was a similar story, taking two wickets and posting 73 points despite the shortened match.
A shortened or called off match doesn’t necessarily guarantee a poor score, but when you are forking out the big bucks for a player like Tom Curran ($236.4k, BAT/BWL), you want a guarantee he will score well.
A hypothetical scenario could see the Sixers win the toss and elect to bat, post a total three down before rain calls off the rest of play.
This would leave Curran with a big fat doughnut with the potential of another rain affected game on Saturday night.
It may be wise to tread carefully this round and not bolster our sides with double game week players -which is generally the recipe for success in SuperCoach BBL.
