Western Bulldogs midfielder Jack Macrae has started 2019 where he left off last year with a regulation 40-disposal display against Gold Coast.

The Bulldogs may have lost to the Suns in Mackay but there was more to be excited about.

Five players in red, white and blue reached three figures — Macrae, Mitch Wallis, Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Liberatore, Aaron Naughton and Caleb Daniel — while the Suns had none.

JACK MACRAE (WESTERN BULLDOGS) MID $689,700

Macrae is one of the highest-priced players this season but there’s no signs he’ll be slowing down this year. He racked up 40 disposals against the Suns — something he managed to do in four games last season. He averaged 32.8 disposals a game in 2018, ranked second in the AFL.

MITCH WALLIS (WESTERN BULLDOGS) FWD/MID $498,800

Mitch Wallis spent most of the game forward for the Western Bulldogs and was productive with three goals. He still managed 24 disposals and six marks. Wallis kicked 20 goals last year, a tally he is more than capable of surpassing based on this game.

MARCUS BONTEMPELLI (WESTERN BULLDOGS) MID $564,600

The Dogs star found the ball 30 times against the Suns. Surprising, Bontempelli picked up 30 or more disposals in just three games last season but continually hit big SuperCoach numbers with his quality ball use.

IZAK RANKINE (GOLD COAST) FWD $198,300

The No.3 draft pick may have started his Suns career with an incredible goal from the pocket, but he could be a risk at his price. Rankine played predominantly up forward and, while he’ll be a gun player, he finished with just six disposals.
