2017 AFL season's blockbuster finish

SUPER Saturday delivered some huge upsets that have turned the ladder on its head.

The Demons are in trouble, the Crows are locked in at the top and the Cats are big winners.

What does that mean for Sunday?

Here’s where every team in the finals race could finish based on every possible result.

1. ADELAIDE 62pts 139.9%

v West Coast, Sunday 4.40pm

Adelaide can now put the cue in the rack. The Crows will finish the year on top of the ladder and enjoy a home final. They will either play GWS or Port Adelaide. How big would a Showdown final be?

2. GEELONG 62, 117.4%

v GWS , Saturday, 7.25pm

No one has been talking about the Cats for a few weeks. Next thing we know they are in second spot on the ladder and set for a home final. The Cats are now a red hot chance to win it all. They will either play GWS or Richmond in a home final.

3. GWS GIANTS 60, 114.8%

v Geelong, Saturday, 7.25pm

Saturday night was the biggest game of Greater Western Sydney’s season. And they no-showed it. What’s next for the Giants? They now face the prospect of finishing fourth, if Richmond beats St Kilda, and heading to Adelaide for a road qualifying final. How could they let this happen? If the Tigers lose, the Giants will take on the Cats again.

4 PORT ADELAIDE 56, 129.7%

v Gold Coast, Saturday night, 7.40pm

The Power did exactly what was needed. They smashed Gold Coast and moved into fourth position on the ladder. The big question is, will they stay there? If Richmond wins on Sunday against St Kilda, the Power will drop down to fifth.

5. SYDNEY 56, 126.8%

v Carlton, Saturday, 4.35pm

For a few hours on Saturday, the Swans were in the top four and looking like they might secure a double chance. But by the end of the night they were fifth. That was despite a whopping 10 goals from Lance Franklin. If Richmond wins on Sunday against St Kilda, the Swans will drop to sixth. That is as far as they can fall though.

6. RICHMOND 56, 116.7%

v St Kilda, Sunday, 3.20pm

The Tigers have been tumbling but that could all stop on Sunday. With a win over St Kilda, Richmond will jump to third on the ladder and take on Geelong. However, as we have seen from Melbourne, take nothing for granted in the final round of the season. The Saints are trying to keep their season alive and will be doing everything they can to knock off the Tigers.

Richmond is oh, so close to a top-four finish.

7. MELBOURNE 48, 105.2%

v Collingwood, Saturday, 1.45pm

Disaster! The Demons somehow managed to lose to a Collingwood team with nothing to play for.

Now Melbourne’s season could be over by the end of the weekend.

If West Coast defeats Melbourne by more than four goals and Essendon defeat Fremantle, the Demons are done. Who saw that coming at the start of the week? No one.

8. ESSENDON 44, 106.1%

v Fremantle, Sunday, 1.10pm

Wins ...

The Bombers now just need now just need a win to make the finals and unless West Coast wins and makes significant percentage, the Dons will claim seventh spot. If they lose can still make the eight is Adelaide defeats West Coast and they don’t lose by more than 31 points than the Eagles.

9. WEST COAST 44, 104.3%

v Adelaide, Sunday, 4.40pm

A win over the Crows by more than three goals will see the Eagles snare eighth spot. If Essendon loses, the Eagles could even rise to seventh.

10. ST KILDA 44, 98.9%

v Richmond, Sunday, 3.20pm

Must beat Richmond and rely on both Essendon and West Coast losing.

18. BRISBANE LIONS 20, 74.3%
