IT’S time to get moving Sydney! This weekend marks The Daily Telegraph’s inaugural Project Sydney: The Big Movement weekend in which Sydneysiders are encouraged to get outside and get active in an effort to rack up 10 million steps between us.

There are other ways to get active and to help inspire the family, we have designed an interactive cycleway map everyone can enjoy.

Based on the 14km Parramatta to Liverpool Rail Trail cycleway, our map tells you how to work out where to go and offers plenty of suggestions along the way.

It’s a flat route, mostly away from busy roads, that takes you through some of Western Sydney’s most intriguing suburbs, featuring delicious foods from across the world and all kinds of colourful stores along the way.

Best of all, it’s ideal for all ages and fitness levels, and as each stage takes you past a CityRail station, you can leave the ride at any time.

The Big Movement initiative is backed by NSW Health’s Make Healthy Normal campaign, a state government plan to tackle obesity among our population.

More than half of all adults are overweight or obese, with that figure skyrocketing to two thirds of men aged 35-55.

There are myriad health problems associated with being overweight or obese, including high risks of developing Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and various cancers.

Among the activities is a fun Dads v Dads soccer match on Sunday at Robin Thomas Reserve Parramatta from 11am, hosted by Here Come The Habibs creator and stand-up comedian Rob Shehadie, with Sydney FC’s Alex Brosque and Western Sydney Wanderers’ Robbie Cornthwaite and Jerrad Tyson on hand to offer their words of advice to the dads on the pitch.

There’s plenty to do off the pitch too, with all kinds of activities plus market stalls promoting healthy foods and products.
