Three young men, all allegedly lured in by the lucrative Sydney drug trade, are potentially facing years in jail if convicted over what police say was a cocaine Christmas selling spree last month.
The trio, Ammon Kingi (21), Sean Lim (20) and Liam Vasin Dilworth (20) all appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday after police allege they attempted to evade them bycrashing into one of the unmarked cars boxing them in.
Police say their Camry was full of cash and a commercial quantity of cocaine destined for Sydney’s streets.
In the lead up to what is known as “the silly season” on November 28, as workers prepare for festive celebrations, police allege the three men were spotted by Kings Cross detectives under Operation Snags and tracked through Darlinghurst from Liverpool St to Bourke St.
It is there, police allege, they found a number of bags of cocaine and thousands of dollars alleged to be the proceeds of a bumper night’s trading around the CBD.
Before they could be apprehended, police say, Kingi bumped up at kerb and drove into one of the unmarked police cars attempting to box them in.
Kingi, from Brighton Le Sands, did not enter a plea to four charges of supplying drugs, supplying an indictable quantity of drugs, dealing with proceeds of crime, negligent driving and being a learner driver while unaccompanied.
Dilworth, from Raby, was supported by family in court today and pleaded not guilty to his two charges of supplying drugs, possessing cannabis and dealing with proceeds of crime.
Fresh-faced Lim, from Rockdale, also pleaded not guilty to his two charges of supplying drugs and one of dealing with the proceeds of crime.
At the time, Kings Cross detectives had heralded what they claimed was a “significant” seizure, with the command attempting to smash drug supply networks around the CBD and eastern suburbs through a number of targeted operations this year.
All three are due back in court in the new year.
