Myer has resolved a technical issue which caused chaos across the country as Christmas shoppers were unable to pay for their products on one of the busiest retail trading days of the year
Workers were left scrambling just after 1pm, attempting to deal with a swell of crowds when a glitch on its point of sales system hit its 61 stores.
The department store confirmed its point of sale system went down across the country about 1.20pm.
A Myer spokesman said the issue was resolved shortly before closing hours, promising the rest of the weekend will remain glitch-free.
“We had a technical issue this afternoon that affected registers at our stores,” a Myer spokesman said.
“This issue has been rectified and registers are now working as per normal.
“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused during this time and can advise that stores will be trading as per normal.”
Shoppers across Australia vented their anger on social media when the hiccup hit, with some reportedly leaving their items and heading out of the store.
