Al Jazeera journo Rodger Muller’s ex-wife Alison escapes jail time

Allison Muller, whose husband Rodger sensationally stung One Nation after posing as a gun lobbyist, defrauded South Coast turf companies to the tune of $180,000 over four years. On Friday she was handed her punishment in court.

Undercover for 3 years with One Nation and the NRA

The ex-wife of Rodger Muller, who bamboozled One Nation and the NRA in an undercover sting for Al Jazeera, has avoided being sent to jail on a raft of fraud charges.

Alison Louise Muller had scammed a series of turf companies in Nowra, on the state’s South Coast, to the tune of $180,000 between 2010 to 2014 before her offending had come to light.

Authorities had uncovered that she transferred thousands of dollars worth of funds from the companies either to her own firm or her personal credit card.

In some cases, Ms Muller had overpaid herself and documents tendered to court revealed she made more than $4800 worth of payments to Mr Muller.

Ms Muller was found guilty on all 11 charges of dishonestly gaining a financial advantage by deception in September after months of court proceedings in Milton, Nowra and Sydney.

The maximum penalty for each offence is 10 years’ jail, but Ms Muller won’t be spending time in the slammer for her actions.

She was sentenced in Burwood Local Court today, where she received an 18 month intensive corrections order and was ordered to perform 350 hours of community service.

After an earlier court appearance, Ms Muller claimed she had “no idea” about her ex-husband’s secret life as a phoney gun lobbyist.

Rodger Muller’s documentary, which aired in March, sparked the sensational political downfall of One Nation’s Queensland leader Steve Dickson and saw Pauline Hanson’s chief of staff James Ashby claim the pair were “on the sauce” during the sting.

The pair were covertly filmed in Washington DC suggesting that millions of dollars worth of funding from the NRA could help the party pick up seats in the Australian senate and house of representatives.

Ms Muller has been ordered to report to Nowra Community Corrections within five days.
