Two men allegedly involved in a “biffo” with security at a popular Bondi Beach pub have been charged, with a magistrate opining an exclusion from the venue should be mandatory for everyone.

Two men have been barred from a popular Bondi pub after an alleged incident in which they were both charged with common assault.

William Lunn and Jye Geaney appeared in Waverley Local Court on Tuesday where they both pleaded not guilty to their charges arising from an incident at the Beach Road Hotel.

Their solicitor Urania Zafiris told Magistrate Michael Barko negotiations were on foot after reviewing CCTV and indicated there was a possibility the case would not proceed at all.

Court documents indicate the alleged incident occurred just after 10.30pm on April 17.

Lunn, 34, is from North Bondi, while Geaney, 30, is from Yarrawarrah in Sydney’s south.

Mr Barko permitted a minor bail variation deleting the men’s requirement to report for bail once a week on Saturdays before ordering a brief from the prosecution.

“Is it an alleged biffo with security?” Mr Barko asked.

“It is, we take issue with the facts, and representations have been made with respect to the continuation of the prosecution,” Ms Zafiris responded.

Their bail preventing them from going to the Beach Road Hotel was continued.

“Not going near the Beach Road Hotel should be a condition of life, rather than just bail.” Mr Barko mused.

The matter returns to court on July 25.
