Police in Sydney’s CBD believe they have crushed a major drug distribution network operating out of Redfern.
Over the course of a three-day operation, believed to have been ongoing as recently as this morning, detectives made 35 arrests after a series of raids targeting a significant supply network.
More arrests and charges are expected as those suspected of involvement continue to be processed this morning.
It is understood Strike Force Petal was targeting the supply of meth and heroin from Redfern into surrounding areas of Sydney.
The bust comes as the The City of Sydney LGA, which covers the Redfern Police Area Command, had a 35 per cent spike in drug-related offences between April 2018 to March 2019.
The figures from the Bureau of Crime Statistics Research, released yesterday, also revealed the City of Sydney had 694 offences relating to possession of amphetamines committed and 1733 of dealing and trafficking meth in the same period.
