Imagine waking up to almost 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean from your bed – then having coffee overlooking Australia’s most famous beach.
According to Airbnb Australia, the beach is the place to be this summer.
The travel platform’s 2022 holiday travel trends report names ‘beach’, ‘beachfront’, ‘boats’, ‘amazing views’, and ‘amazing pools’ as some of its top-search terms for the first year out of Covid pandemic lockdowns.
Australi was an in-demand location this year, with three capital cities in the top 10 most-searched cities globally. Brisbane ranked 10th and Melbourne 5th, but it was sunny Sydney that nabbed the highest billing – ranked 2nd just behind Bangkok, Thailand as the best-loved city of 2022.
Airbnb country manager for Australia and New Zealand Susan Wheeldon said travellers were looking to mix it up this summer.
“We know many Australians love to escape to the beach or relax near the water over summer, but travellers may [also] find a new way to seek inspiration,” Ms Wheeldon said.
“Whether it’s a beachfront stay, cozy cabin, farm stay, somewhere to cook a holiday feast … or an amazing pool.”
All of this – and more – can be found hidden in some of Sydney’s most exclusive locations, with all the home comforts like a fully-stocked pantry and Netflix on the TV that make staying at an Airbnb so appealing.
There’s no shortage of glamorous hotels in Australia’s Emerald City, but precious few that offer waterfront access to some of the most popular beaches and top-rated cafe and restaurants.
