City of Wagga Council advised overnight that the Murrumbidgee River is set to rise due to the heavy and intense rainfall that hit the Burrinjuck dam overnight.

The NSW SES said it was more a precautionary measure at this stage but did say Saturday could see thunderstorms and more rain cause more concern.

Water NSW advises customers, landholders and communities to monitor river levels closely and make necessary arrangements to ensure infrastructure, livestock and personnel safety are not impacted by the fluctuating river levels.

A minor flood warning for Booligal is also in place as the Lachlan River rose to 2.40m overnight, with this warning will be in place for the rest of March.
